Ong Bak 3
The Awakening
Tien has cheated death. Now he must transcend it.
Story
Broken. Reborn. Unstoppable.
Ong Bak 3: The Awakening picks up in the aftermath of the cataclysmic events of Ong Bak 2. Warrior Tien — left shattered, his body broken by Lord Rajasena's soldiers — is carried to the village of Kana Khone barely alive. His elbows snapped. His knees crushed. His spirit on the very edge of oblivion.
Under the quiet tutelage of Master Bua, Tien endures a brutal programme of physical and spiritual restoration. He is forced to confront the darkest truth of all: his suffering is not merely the work of his enemies, but the consequence of his own negative karma. And yet, from the ashes of despair, something extraordinary begins to stir.
Fusing the disciplines of Muay Boran, Krabi Krabong and Kalaripayattu with the flowing grace of ancient Thai dance, Tien forges a wholly new way of fighting — one that transforms opponents into dance partners rather than slaughtered foes. But the dark mystic Bhuti Sangkha has seized the throne, placed a devastating curse over the kingdom, and will stop at nothing to extinguish Tien's reawakening light.
The fate of the sacred Ong Bak Buddha — and the soul of Siam itself — rests on whether one broken man can find the strength to rise once more.
Combat System
Every Limb Is a Weapon
Building upon the combo-driven brutality of Ong Bak Tri, the third instalment introduces the Dharma Flow system — a radical new combat engine that rewards rhythm, aggression and spiritual focus simultaneously. The more fluidly you move between offensive chains and meditative stances, the more devastating Tien becomes.
Muay Boran
The ancient predecessor to Muay Thai. Devastating elbow strikes, flying knee attacks and bone-crushing clinch work form the savage core of Tien's offensive arsenal. Eight limbs, zero mercy.
Krabi Krabong
The Royal Thai weapons art. Tien commands the twin short swords, staff, and rope dart with lethal precision. Weapon-pick-up mechanics let you turn the environment against your enemies mid-brawl.
Kalaripayattu
India's ancient art of acrobatic strikes and pressure-point attacks, mastered by Tien during his years with Chernang's guerrillas. Fluid, sweeping low kicks and joint-locking throws drawn from across Southeast Asia.
Dharma Flow
Tien's signature fusion of combat and sacred dance. Building a Flow Gauge through unbroken rhythm unlocks transcendent finishers that blend spiritual ritual with absolute physical destruction. The franchise's most distinct new mechanic.
Environmental Combat
Every level in ancient Siam is a weapon. Bamboo scaffolding collapses. Temple pillars shatter. Tien scales, vaults and rebounds off every surface in free-running sequences that seamlessly transition into punishing aerial strikes.
Boss Encounters
Cinematic quick-time duels against warlords, dark mystics and monstrous supernatural foes drawn from Thai mythology. Each encounter demands mastery of a specific discipline — brute force alone will not suffice against Bhuti Sangkha.
Features
What Sets It Apart
Expanded 3D World
Moving beyond the acclaimed 2.5D side-scrolling format of Ong Bak Tri, the third instalment opens up into a fully explorable third-person action world. Ancient temples, river markets, jungle fortresses and royal palaces are yours to navigate and destroy.
Authentic Motion Capture
Every strike, throw and aerial manoeuvre has been motion-captured directly from master practitioners of Muay Boran and Krabi Krabong. Panna Rittikrai's legendary choreography school oversaw all combat animation to ensure the raw, unfiltered authenticity the franchise demands.
Progressive Mastery System
Unlock over 120 individual combat techniques across six disciplines as Tien recovers his strength and transcends his former limits. The skill tree is linear early on — reflecting Tien's broken state — before branching explosively once the Awakening begins.
Deep Story Mode
Eight to twelve hours of narrative campaign directly continuing the events of Ong Bak 2. Fully voiced in Thai with optional English subtitles and a reimagined English dub. Cut-scenes are rendered in-engine at native resolution with no drop in visual fidelity.
Survival Arenas
Horde-mode arenas pit Tien against ever-escalating waves of enemies, including the supernatural forces and undead warriors that plagued the cursed kingdom of Kana Khone. Online leaderboards rank your combo scores globally. Persistent weekly challenges keep content fresh.
Haptic Feedback & Adaptive Triggers
On PlayStation 5, every blocked strike shudders through the DualSense controller. Weapon impacts carry distinct resistance profiles. The sensation of delivering a flying knee to a helmeted warlord is, frankly, deeply satisfying. We are not sorry.
World
The Kingdom of Ayutthaya
The year is 1431. The Ayutthaya Kingdom stands at the height of its power and at the brink of spiritual collapse. Six distinct regions await exploration, each with their own visual identity, enemy factions and environmental combat opportunities.
Where Tien rebuilds. A haunted, cursed settlement clinging to survival under Bhuti's shadow.
The tyrant's seat of power. Bhuti's cursed domain, thick with corrupt royal guards and dark ritual.
Chernang's old stronghold. A vertical labyrinth of rope bridges, bamboo towers and deadly river drops.
Where dark karma festers. Tien must confront supernatural horrors drawn from Thai mythology within these fallen stones.
Chaos on the water. A living, breathing trading district where every boat and barrel becomes a weapon.
The final reckoning. The dark mystic's stronghold, where the boundary between the living world and spiritual ruin dissolves entirely.
